The Future of the Mobile Payments Market

The Infographic of the Day series visually expresses important stories from Asia and the world of technology.
G+ (and no, we don’t mean Google+) has created a new infographic which predicts how the mobile payments industry might shape up in the near future. Mobile payments are growing, and fast too. It’s nothing new, since it has been part of Japanese mobile habits for quite some time. But widespread adoption is beginning to take off and it’s set to be a focal point for device manufacturers, software vendors, carriers, banks and retailers going forward.
So just how are things expected to look once it really gets going? G+’s infographic below predicts that mobile payments will exceed $670 billion by 2015, and 40 percent of it will be from the sales of digital goods. This trend is clear in Japan, where we have seen the giant mobile social network, DeNA, generate US$12.5 million per month with its Kaito Royal game. Across the globe, Asia, Europe & North, and America will constitute 75 percent of all transactions.
The infographic looks pretty slick, and numbers represent a great hope for the industry. Check it out and let us know what you think about it in comments below:
